SAN DIEGO; November 18, 2021: Virbela, a pioneer in virtual world technology for work, education, and events, today announced that it has been named to Fast Company’s inaugural Next Big Things in Tech list, honoring the technology breakthroughs that promise to shape the future of their industries—from healthcare to agriculture to artificial intelligence and more.

The final list, which includes global giants, intrepid startups, and research that’s fresh from the labs, recognizes 65 technologies that are making waves. While not all of the products, services, and technological developments are on the market yet, they’re reaching key milestones in having a positive impact for consumers, businesses, and society at large in the next five years. Fast Company also recognized 33 honorable mentions.

Virbela builds virtual worlds and environments for work, education, training, and events using the latest in gaming and VR technologies. Organizations around the world, including American Cancer Society, eXp Realty, MIT, PwC, and Trello, are all partnering with Virbela to recreate the office experience, connect their workforce, and build community online.

Virbela is focused on creating virtual environments that are accessible to everyone, on any device. In 2021, they introduced a new product called FRAME to push the limits of browser-based VR technology and create new ways for people to connect instantly. Virbela and FRAME have enabled thousands of organizations to collaborate in realistic online spaces for their meetings, events, and training sessions.

“At Virbela, we believe in creating a diverse, welcoming environment where people can develop strong social connections, collaborate with one another, and foster a true sense of community. The Virbela and FRAME teams have been hard at work on new features and improvements, ensuring our technology continues to support organizations embracing the new work-from-anywhere work culture,” says Alex Howland, President and Co-Founder of Virbela. “We are honored to be recognized as one of Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech.”

Fast Company is thrilled to highlight cutting-edge technologies that are solving real-world problems in unexpected ways. From climate change and public health crises to machine learning and security, these technologies will certainly have a profound impact on the future, and we’re honored to bring attention to them today,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company
